There are plenty of animals in the wild that deserve our fear and a safe distance. Neither caimans nor jaguars are creatures whose power you should disrespect. Honestly, if you saw either of these animals in a dark alley (and disregarded how weird that actually would be), you might want to turn around and walk the other way. A photographer and founder of Visionary Wild, Justin Black, spotted these two powerful creatures going head to head. The two animals were found in Pantanal, Brazil’s eastern wetlands, and the showdown was epic.
This jaguar must have been incredibly hungry to take on a dangerous caiman.
He stalked the Yacare caiman, which was just sunning itself on the shore.
He didn’t see this big cat coming.
In fact, the jaguar used one of the caiman’s tricks against him…
And attacked from the water.
The cat threw the 150lb crocodile in the air like it was a dog toy.
It’s hard to believe that the jaguar is a threatened species.
This one can obviously take care of itself.
Most animals fear the watering hole because of crocodiles.
But fighting a crocodile on his home turf? Challenge accepted.
The animal kingdom can be amazing, albeit frightening, place. Brazil’s Pantanal is home to the highest density of jaguars in the world, but the big cats are often targeted by hunters. Hopefully they find a way to survive and conservationists can protect them. They are too impressive not to have around.
