Designer and animator Hayden Zezula, also known as Zolloc, creates otherworldly animated .gifs that are beautiful and mesmerizing as well as slightly unsettling. He uses a variety of textures, from smooth plasticine-like surfaces to reflective metallics and rippling water, as well as many colors, ranging from neon to pastel to translucent shades of white, to create entire worlds in .gif form.

The images are simple on the surface, though extensive animation has gone into each one. They also manage to evoke a sense of space and a range of emotion. Planes of color are inhabited by mysterious bodies–and parts of bodies–and by mechanical-looking animals. Cities emerge from gelatinous liquids, and water takes the shape of a variety of geometric confines. Though they have activity, there’s something very calm about them; each one appears to be its own small, fully intact universe. They’re also really fun to stare at. As a bonus, Zezula’s work can also be found on his Instagram and Facebook pages, and if you like experimental video, you can check out his YouTube channel. Plus he has a really cute dog:
