Think You’re Having A Bad Day? Just Be Thankful You’re Not This Bear Stuck On A Bridge.

Back in 2007 an adventurous bear in California got itself stuck under a bridge, 100 feet in the air. According to Truckee animal control officer Robert Brooks, the bear was spooked by passing cars when it tried to cross the bridge initially. In a panic it climbed the guard rail and then became trapped under the road between the support beams of the bridge. Brooks and his colleagues were impressed that the bear had managed to get as far as it did. They were afraid the bear would fall, so they decided to help.

After trying to cross the bridge. The bear was frightened by passing cars and climbed the guardrail.

About every half hour the bear moved to the edge of the arch and tried to find a foot hold to climb down.

Local animal control officer, Robert Brooks, and his collegues traveled to Reno, Nevada to find an 20-by-40 foot nylon net.

With the help of some volunteers Baker and his team rigged up the net underneath the bridge with ropes and pulleys.

Another animal control officer shot the bear with a tranquilizer dart. Once the tranquilizer had taken effect the officer came down in a harness

The office then moved the 250 pound bear into the net, and it was lowered back down to the ground.

They put the bear down in the shade, and it quickly scampered off after it woke up.

Check out this news report about the rescue. My heart is now officially warmed.
