I enjoy having unique experiences when I travel. I like to see things that I can’t see at home. Because otherwise, what’s the point of traveling? That’s why when I heard about this special hotel in Sweden, I couldn’t help but be intrigued.
I’m ready to book the next ticket to Stockholm!
The Utter Inn sits atop a local lake, just east of the capital.
No, seriously…ON the lake!
With a small top section, and a lower living area ten feet below the surface, this unique hotel destination attracted thousands of residents since opening in 2000.
As the brainchild of Mikael Genburg, the idea came to him out of the blue. “I don’t think there is an experience quite like sleeping underwater and many people have come to find out if they like it.”
Although Mikael admitted even he had doubts when it first opened, it’s since proven to be a winner. “I was quite worried as it was an unproven concept, but now I love it! Because there is a window on every side, you feel totally submerged in the lake.”
He found that visitors tell him they have the best night sleep of their lives down in the quiet of the lake.
Next time you’re suffering from insomnia, book a stay here and get the rest you deserve. All from the comfortable home of the fishes.

The inn is open from April/May to early September, and a stay here will run you about $400-500. But with the best sleep of your life guaranteed, does price even matter? We don’t think so either!
