This Girl’s Act Of Kindness May Land Her In Jail… FOREVER. This Is So Unfortunate.

Emma Czornobaj might have been hoping to save the lives of some adorable ducklings, but instead she took the lives of a father and his 16 year old daughter after dangerously parking her car on a highway in Quebec. The accident occurred in June 2010 and on Friday, almost exactly four years later, Czornobaj was found guilty of two counts of criminal negligence causing death. The 12-member jury voted unanimously, Quebec Superior Court Justice Eliane Perreault details. Czornobaj wiped away tears as the verdict was delivered. She could face a life sentence along with two counts of dangerous driving causing death, adding up to a maximum of 14 years of jail time. Roy’s wife, Pauline Volikakis, witnessed the accident while riding her own motorcycle behind her husband and daughter but was luckily able to avoid injury herself. In court Friday, she said she is ready to move on from the crash. “I don’t wish misfortune on anyone,” the widow explained to the Associated Press. “It’s time that we go on. This will not bring [back] my loved ones.”

Czornobaj stopped her car intending to gather up and take the abandoned ducklings home with her.

Andre Roy, middle, and his daughter Jessie were killed after his motorcycle collided with the parked car.

Prosecutor Annie-Claude Chasse hopes that motorists learn a lesson from the verdict.

This is a tragic reminder to always be alert and share the road with others. Motorcycle accidents like this are often avoidable with some common sense from those in larger vehicles.
