This Crafter Made Tiny Winter Wonderlands Inside Ornaments, And So Can You

Do you remember making dioramas in elementary school? This DIY crafter just took dioramas to a new, festive level. Using a cut open Christmas ornament, Ashlee from My So-Called Crafty Life created miniature winter wonderland dioramas. She also wrote a step-by-step guide so you can make your own gorgeous, snowy worlds.

Read an abridged version of the tutorial below, and get the full tutorial on Ashlee’s site.

Start by drawing a circle around your ornament about a half inch away from the metal top.

Using a drummel, cut on the line. When you’re finished, gently pull the top off.

Paint the inside of your ornament a light blue color.

After the paint dries, paint the inside with glue and apply the glitter, but make sure to leave the bottom of the ornament clean.

Using a hot glue gun, glue your miniatures to the clean floor of your ornament.

Ashlee uses trees, reindeer, and santa figurines, but don’t be afraid to get creative!

Pull apart your cotton balls for snow. Put a little bit of glue on the ornament floor, and use a toothpick to push it down.

To finish it off, add a sparkly pipe cleaner around the edges of the ornament with hot glue.

The finished product is absolutely beautiful.

Don’t hog these ornaments for just your tree. These ornaments make great personalized gifts. If you loved this project, you can follow Ashlee and her DIY projects on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.
