These Aren’t Just Photos Of People. They’re Something MUCH Cooler.

Duane Hanson was an American artist who had an incredible talent for making sculptures that looked eerily like real human beings (to be totally honest, I’m still not completely convinced that they weren’t). Using fiberglass and vinyl, he did all but give the works he created for his installments heartbeats. You really have to take a look at his work; odds are, you won’t believe these aren’t real people.

This level is talent seems like absolute madness. Wow.

Some say art is all around you, but these people are art.

Someone looks like they’ve had a rough day, but this sculpture didn’t. That’s impossible.

Okay, are we sure this one isn’t a real person?

Sculpture tourists.

Oooh a puppy!

I didn’t knew fiberglass and vinyl could get so sun damaged.

I tend to trust the artist’s vision, but maybe he could have sculpted him a shirt.

This art is actually in an art gallery… so meta.

Don’t fill up on fiberglass and vinyl bread.

The hardest working sculpture in the world.

Behind this woman.

This is one of Hanson’s more somber works.

Need some help carrying those bags?

Wow. Just setting up shop in the middle of a gallery, huh?

Aw, even a fake sleeping baby is adorable.

Incredible stuff! Though I’m sure many people flocked to be his friend once he became a successful artist, he would have been fine without them. If he wanted to go out to dinner but was afraid to be seen eating alone, he could just bring along one of his sculptures. And he could totally take advantage of the HOV lane!
