We believe at a young age that the things we create have immense value. That’s why one little boy wanted his dad to post a picture of a crude LEGO design he built on Imgur. The cute kid thought the community would like it, and he would be able to possibly sell the design.
Dad, of course, knew better, and treated the design as a joke. Yet when the Internet decided to “punish” the father for his non-belief of his son’s creation, something wonderful happened.
The dad assured his son that no one would buy the design. He wrote on the post that he’d pay his son $0.10 for every thumbs up the image got on the site. He would then buy more LEGOs with the money.

The Imgur community learned of the dad’s pessimism, and racked up enough votes to have dad pay the son $2000 (in LEGOs, of course).

Fans even went so far as to create 3D replicas of the son’s creation and put it in space.

A company named Block Party Bricks even sent the son $500 to buy his design.

Now an accomplished LEGO designer, the son took his earnings and spent the money in the best way possible.

50% give away to a needy charity.
20% into his savings account for future education.
20% into future entrepreneurial endeavors (more LEGO, on his dime).”
As for the charity, he gave $250 to a small African charity named Mamkhulu that uses all the money for to help young children stay off the streets.

Though he wanted to send LEGOs to the kids in the charity, his dad explained that they would rather have money for food and blankets first. Regardless, this proves that the incredible spirit of one young boy can make anything possible. It also proves that maybe dads everywhere shouldn’t doubt the power of the Internet. Nice one, Imgur!
