Paddington Bear, the lovable English teddy bear known for sporting a blue coat, red hat and suitcase, is getting a makeover just in time for the release of his new movie in December.
In London, fifty Paddington statues will be placed around the city as a way to promote the movie and get city-dwellers excited. What’s more, is that instead of his traditional red and blue ensemble, Paddington is enjoying a full wardrobe, with each statue being designed by a celebrity, including the stars of the film, Nicole Kidman, Peter Capaldi, Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters and Ben Whishaw.
Nicole Kidman
Boris Johnson
Julie Andrews
David Beckham
Michael Sheen
Emma Watson
Hugh Bonneville
Benedict Cumberbatch
Other celebrity designers include David Beckham, Kate Moss, Michael Sheen, Benedict Cumberbatch and Emma Watson, as well as London’s mayor, Boris Johnson.
The statues are placed throughout the city in what’s known as the “Paddington trail,” and was organized by VisitLondon.com and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). The statues will be removed on December 30, and will subsequently be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to charity, specifically the NSPCC, which provides services to children and families who need them.
