Abandoned Buildings Are One Thing, But An Abandoned Crematorium? Creepy.

Mount Rose Cemetery takes creepy cemeteries to a whole new level. You’ve seen abandoned houses and buildings, but have you ever seen an abandoned cemetery with its own abandoned crematorium?

While part of the Mount Rose Cemetery is still in use, its chapel and crematorium are completely abandoned and decaying. Just wait until you see these pictures.

Note: Mount Rose Cemetery is not the real name of this cemetery. Its name was changed, and its location was not revealed to help preserve these already crumbling buildings.

Mount Rose Cemetery is an incredibly old cemetery, dating back to 1837.

Mount Rose was constructed to help alleviate overcrowding that plagued the other local cemeteries at the time.

It was constructed in the Victorian style and opened its gates for the first time in 1837.

During its lifetime, Mount Rose had a number of additions.

The fist was an ornate Gothic chapel built on the grounds in 1873.

A crematorium was added in 1912. Here is a creepy looking shot of the table that the bodies were placed on before being cremated.

Here’s the table from another angle, and in color. Talk about spooky looking.

Sadly, over the years, the structures at Mount Rose Cemetery fell into disuse and were eventually abandoned.

However, the grounds are still used today as an active cemetery. I’m not sure I’d want to be buried so close to those creepy abandoned buildings.

While Mount Rose Cemetery is undoubtedly creepy, it still has a hauntingly beautiful quality.
