The cruelty that some people can show innocent animals can be bewildering. Three helpless litters of kittens were left to die in someone’s yard by an anonymous, cold-hearted person. Thankfully, the People And Cats Together group received a call about the abandoned animals and made it their goal to save them. Once on the scene, a person noticed a small white and black kitten that was struggling in some bushes. The little cat couldn’t walk or even stand. He had to drag his back legs if he wanted to move. He didn’t realize something was wrong, but his rescuers knew they had to act. They named the cat Thumper. Vets quickly determined that his disability was the result of a neurological condition that he couldn’t walk.
His disease had no cure.
Sometimes cats can recover from the condition… but sometimes they do not.
Vets were unsure if Thumper would ever walk like his litter mates.
Because the non-profit rescue knew that disabled cats had a hard time getting adopted, they decided to help Thumper.
First, Thumper needed to get stronger.
They created a special wheelchair for him, one that would help him build strength in his back legs.
It wasn’t long before he was taking his first steps.
With the help of other therapy as well, the kitten was soon standing on his own.
He was unsteady on his feet, but he was walking.
Even though he has quite the unique gait, he eventually got to the point where he was walking on his own.
Soon enough after his rehabilitation, Thumper was adopted into a loving home.
(H/T The Pet Collective) The People and Cats Together (PACT) volunteers didn’t have to work with Thumper as much as they did, but because of their efforts he can have a normal life. He could have died in the bushes, alone and disabled, but the rescue organization made sure that didn’t happen. If you’d like to help PACT save more animals, please visit this page. There are so many wonderful rescue groups throughout the country that are helping animals survive and find loving homes. Share Thumper’s amazing transformation with others. Maybe it’ll inspire someone to save a life.
