You’ll Be Shocked To Realize What Other Countries Really Think About The U.S.

Do you ever wonder what tourists from other countries are thinking when they visit the United States? I recently thought about this, and discovered complaints that are surprisingly pretty common. I was absolutely shocked by some of the things tourists think, mostly because they’re incorrect, but also because they’re a bit bizarre.

1. People from countries with amazing healthcare systems tend to think that ours is horrendous. Some go so far as to say, “If you can’t afford travel insurance, you can’t afford to travel to the United States.”

2. Many foreign tourists find American cities to be dangerous and full of crime.

3. Tons of visitors from European countries are worried about the U.S. weather, and are especially wary of hurricanes.

4. According to travelers from other countries, we Americans are pretty touchy about our politics. Do not bring them up.

5. Visitors from more liberal countries feel that there aren’t nearly enough nude beaches in “The States.”

6. Visitors who come to the United States seem extremely worried about crime–even when they’re not in urban environments.

7. Countries like the U.K. find that our driving rules are simply too lax for them to feel comfortable out on the road.

8. Drug laws vary from country to country, and there can be some confusion as to what’s legal in America and what isn’t.

9. Some visitors are terrified of the idea of spending any time in a U.S. prison. Luckily for Canadians, those imprisoned in the U.S. can request a transfer to a prison in Canada.

I had no idea that this is what visitors thought about Americans. Good to know, I guess. I know it’s definitely going to make me think twice about assuming things about people in other countries.
