Have you ever used the bathroom and worried about a creature of some sort climbing up the pipes and catching you with your pants down? This doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s one of the most terrifying experiences ever. Unfortunately, this is exactly what one woman in San Diego learned this week.
Stephanie Lacsa, co-founder of Vertical PR and Marketing, noticed that the water level in the office toilet was a little higher than usual. So she grabbed a plunger and got to work.
After a couple of plunges, Lacsa got the shock of a lifetime when a 5 1/2 foot Colombian rainbow boa popped out of the toilet.
That’s when Lacsa ran out of the bathroom, screaming, plunger still in hand. Luckily, she managed to trap the snake in the bathroom while she called animal control. The snake was a little feisty, and even managed to bite one of the handlers. Fortunately, the responding officers were able to get it out of the office and to an animal care facility.
Colombian rainbow boas are non-venomous, and indigenous to the Central and South American rainforests. It’s still not known exactly how the snake ended up stuck in the office toilet.
Officers say that they’ll hold the snake at the animal care facility until the end of the week. If no one claims it, then the boa will go to an animal rescue home.

Usually, the bathroom is the spot where most people feel the safest. Alas, when it comes to snakes and creepy crawlies, no place is safe.
