When you get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you’re often groggy, tired, and just want to go back to bed. When you’re in this vulnerable state, nothing is more jarring or annoying than a bright overhead light burning your eyes out in the bathroom. Instructables user Baldr found a solution to this problem with the coolest bathroom floor ever.
With the know-how to design and install the floor himself, Baldr made a custom LED lit tile floor that resembles a starry night sky. It provides the perfect amount of light for a late-night bathroom break, and it looks freaking awesome. Check out the photos below to see the finished product, and see how he made it.
He installed a bundle of fiber optic cables near the entrance of his bathroom, and spread the cables out throughout the tiling.

The end of each cable has a light on it. Wherever he wanted a shimmering light, he put a cable end.

He notes that it’s helpful to work with a light that’s dim enough to see the fiber optic lights, but bright enough to see what you’re doing.

When all of the cables are hidden and the lights are activated, the floor shimmers and shines. It is turned off and on with a sensor that reacts to a wave of your hand.
