Most people wouldn’t risk trying to smuggle contraband items through customs, no matter what country they were going in or out of. Then again, this young man isn’t most people. He thought he would try to fool Chinese border guards by strapping 94 iPhone 6s to his body under his clothes. It didn’t go well for him.
The young man initially drew the attention of customs officials when they said he appeared to be walking with a weird, uncomfortable posture.

That’s when they stopped him to discover the man had 94 brand new iPhone 6s strapped to his body.

The man had just arrived at Futian Port from Hong Kong carrying two plastic shopping bags which passed inspection. It was when he continuously set off a metal detector that officials thoroughly searched him.

Needless to say, customs officials seized the phones. According to some estimates, the smuggled phones could have fetched a total value of up to $49,000 on the Chinese black market. This is despite the iPhone 6 being for sale at Apple Stores in China.

After the phones were seized, the would be smuggler was held for questioning. However his current status is not known.

How did this guy think he was actually going to get through customs with 94 iPhones, which are primarily made of metal, strapped to his body? They have metal detectors everywhere these days.
