The Riverside Hospital was built in 1883 as a safe home for unwed mothers. It wasn’t until 1983 that it became a fully fledged hospital, before closing in 2002. This past December a group of photographers decided to enter the abandoned building and take a few pictures. Little did they know, the property had just been bought by the public school system and the police department next door had grown privy to their breaking and entering.
If you have to shimmy up to a wall to get into a place, it’s probably a good indication that you shouldn’t be there.
They’re in!
Some of the rooms don’t get much light.
Without context this all looks like alien technology.
Probably a good idea to wear shoes in a place like this.
The photographers said the eeriest thing about the hospital is that surgical tools were still out, as if someone had just finished a procedure and had to leave in hurry.
At one point the photographers tripped an alarm and the police quickly ended all of their fun.
Crime doesn’t pay.
The photographers only had to pay a fine, but it is probably best if you don’t repeat their mistake. (No matter what kind of cool pictures you’d get.)
