If you want to drink wine in the morning at work, people will likely judge you. However, thanks to one family-run creamery in New York, you don’t have to worry about the judgment that comes with opening a bottle of wine at 10:30 AM. Instead, you’ll feel the judgment of eating ice cream for breakfast.
Mercer’s Dairy invented a wine ice cream that actually has alcohol in it. You read that correctly. It’s not “wine-flavored” ice cream. It is actually wine-infused ice cream with a butterfat content of 15% and a proof of 5%.
There are eight different flavors of this guilty pleasure, including cherry merlot, chocolate Cabernet, peach White Zinfandel, Port, red raspberry Chardonnay, Riesling, spice, and strawberry sparkling.
You may think this sounds like it has potential to be disastrous, and that the taste will never live up to the real thing. However, take solace in the fact that Mercer’s Dairy has taken home numerous awards for this product at the Great American Dessert Expo in Atlanta, GA.
You can buy the wine ice cream from as little as a pint-sized tub to a three-gallon bucket. The latter is ideal for a romantic night in, or if you just got dumped and are starting a rom-com marathon.
While not widely available yet, these delicious ice creams are currently featured at tastings across the country. If you want to get in on the action, visit the official Mercer’s Dairy website.
