This Trail Crew Makes Sure Your Nature Hike Goes Off Without A Hitch

One of the best parts about going hiking on a well traveled trail is seeing how the pathways seem to emerge from the wilderness, slowly developed and constructed after years of people walking along the very same passage. Not only is hiking great exercise, it’s also incredibly fun to experience nature from the ground up.

A team of volunteer stone path builders, the Jolly Rovers Trail Crew, specializes in finding old, defunct pathways that have fallen into disrepair. They take them and make them new again. They do some incredible work, and have certainly improved the experiences of countless hikers and nature enthusiasts through their efforts.

Here’s the team in action, breaking down, rebuilding, removing, and replacing – all a part of their process of reconstructing beautiful environs for hikers.

As you can see by these before and after pictures, their work is certainly noticeable and necessary.

The difference is remarkable.

Imagine you’re a hiker and happen upon this lovely scene. Thanks to nature and the hard work of trail crews like this one, we can fully enjoy beautiful scenery like this.

The team really does find a nice balance between natural beauty and human construction – without this perfect harmony, something would be lost from these beautiful trails.

I think it would be fun to work on a crew like this – of course you have to have some knowledge of path reconstruction in order to do the work, but I imagine that they are all very satisfied when they can see the fruits of their labor at the end of the day.
