This colorful village looks like it belongs in the pages of a storybook, but it’s actually the work of a 90-year-old war veteran. Once dilapidated housing for soldiers, the small Taichung, Taiwan, community is covered in whimsical rainbow paintings. Huang Yongfu, who began painting only to kill time, has transformed the area into one of Taiwan’s most loved tourist attractions.
Huang is a self-taught artist.
His child-like style adds to the playful feel of the village.
The paintings went unnoticed until a group of college students discovered the work.
It’s rumored Huang painted the village to keep it from being torn down.
