This Is What The Circle Of Life Actually Looks Like, And It’s Pretty Brutal.

Life in nature is short, nasty, and brutish. That’s something a lot of us have forgotten, living in “civilized” towns and cities. That’s where the work of New York City photographer Catherine Chalmers comes in.

She started raising small animals (fruit flies, mice, frogs, snakes) in her apartment as a way to reconnect with nature while living in an urban jungle. As they grew she documented the most natural part of their world: hunting and feeding.

Warning: These images might be disturbing to some people. Also, Mufasa lied to you. The Circle Of Life isn’t beautiful at all.

Do you take your life for granted? Humans lucked out… we evolved out of the food chain. On a daily basis, most of us don’t have to worry about running from a lion in order to save our skins. The rest of the animal kingdom isn’t so lucky.

I know it’s nature, but I still feel bad for those baby mice. Share these power pictures of nature in action on Facebook by clicking below.
