Renowned photographer Sandro Miller and equally renowned actor John Malkovich have collaborated for 16 years. Their latest project, Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to Photographic Masters, is an homage to the men and women whose photographs have shaped Miller’s own career. What better way to do this than to re-stage them, and what better person to re-stage them with, Miller thought, than John Malkovich? The result is bizarre but humorous. It’s also a testament to Malkovich’s acting skills, as he embodies the famous subjects in each photo.
On his longtime collaborator, Miller says: “John is the most brilliant, prolific person I know. His genius is unparalleled. I can suggest a mood or an idea and within moments, he literally morphs into the character right in front of my eyes. He is so trusting of my work and our process… I’m truly blessed to have him as my friend and collaborator.”
