Do you have a tattoo? Everyone seems to have a different opinion on how much getting tattooed hurts. Some say it isn’t too bad, while others believe it to be one of the worst pains in the world. (I think the latter group of people are being a bit dramatic, but that’s my opinion.)
Regardless of how painful you think it is, the process of how a tattoo machine works is incredibly fascinating. The good folks over at SmarterEveryDay seem to think so, too. Their latest video shows the tattoo process in super slow motion, from a super close-up viewpoint.
Contrary to popular belief, tattoo machines actually use multiple needles instead of just one.
This allows the machine to deliver more ink faster than a single needle.
That looks scary.
There is a kind of beauty in it the process.

I’m kind of glad I didn’t see this video before I got my tattoo. Otherwise, I don’t think I could have gone through with it. Those needles are terrifying.
