A husband is in hot water after he bulldozed his Middletown, New York, home without obtaining the proper permits. He also forgot to notify his wife, who happened to be out at the time of the unauthorized demolition. It’s safe to say that, had he not knocked his entire house down with all of his and his wife’s belongings, James Rhein would be sleeping on the couch tonight. To make matters worse, it wasn’t actually his house at all. Rhein’s wife Diane Andryshak was listed as the sole owner of their humble abode.
But hey, at least Rhein didn’t blow up the entire block like he easily could have. He didn’t even bother to shut off the electricity.
James Rhein was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and could face additional charges in the incident.

According to Rhein, his wife is over the whole “knocking down her house” thing. “I’m a good husband, what can I tell you?” said the man who was arrested in 2013 on harassment charges. I’m not sure what Rhein could have done to earn his wife’s forgiveness in such a short amount of time, but I’d bet it began with at least beginning to replace all of the clothes, furniture, and other belongings that were taken down with the house. Who knows? Maybe she just likes a man who can handle big machinery—even when it’s not legal and totally messes up her life.
