When David Brower went searching for a new canine companion on the Claresholm Rescue Society website in Alberta, Canada, he was shocked by the first picture that came up. Why? Because it was Dozer, his German shepherd that had been stolen from his backyard a year and a half earlier. There had been multiple locks protecting the pup from escaping, so it was clear that Dozer hadn’t made a run for it.
When he was found by the CRS, he had been wandering around a farm two hours away from his home.
Brower had finally accepted that it was time to move on and rescue another pup, but when he saw the uncanny photo his heart dropped.
When Brower’s father got to the shelter, the former owner instructed him over the phone. “One of the first things I taught him was to snap my fingers, and then he’ll come around to my right side and wait for his second command,” he told CBC News.
Right when Dozer got home and saw his dad, he cried from joy, too, snuggling up close to his pop. Now he’s getting spoiled rotten. After losing two whole years together, who can blame Brower for letting him sleep on the bed?

Aww, what a wonderful ending to a sad story. I’m glad father and son could be reunited, even after it seemed like all hope was lost. Just goes to show, you shouldn’t give up!
