This DIY Liquor Cabinet Looks Like It Came Straight Out Of A James Bond Movie

Upon first glance, this decorative cabinet doesn’t look particularly remarkable. The vintage style and antique trinkets on top are elegant, but it’s otherwise a boring piece of furniture.

If you look closely, though, you’ll notice some strange details about the piece. See the groove the wooden box sits inside of? Why are the books elevated? It’s because with the push of a button (or rather, the tilt of a book), this cabinet becomes something out of a secret agent movie. A secret compartment reveals top-shelf liquor that lifts out from the inside the cabinet.

This awesome creation was made by Redditor FlyingBourbon, out of a cabinet he found on Craigslist for just $60. Check how he created the James Bond style piece below, and then see its beauty in action.

It looks like a normal, decorative cabinet at first…but with the push of a secret button it becomes something awesome.

The cabinet has a hidden liquor cabinet inside of it that lifts up for easy access.

Here’s the cabinet before he started the remodel.

First, he gutted it.

Then, he cut the opening in the top for the motorized liquor cabinet insert.

He painted the cabinet with chalk paint and wax.

The back of the cabinet is made of old bourbon barrels – a classy touch.

He installed an old-fashioned button light switch for the lighting inside.

The light switch turns on the Edison bulbs. They are only 20 watts, so they don’t get too hot.

The cabinet moves via a motorized TV lift in the back.

By pulling on one of the books, the lift is activated.

Here’s the view from inside the cabinet.

Now, see it in action!

If I had the technical skills to make one of these, I totally would. I think I need to take a class in woodworking, now that I’ve seen this. Share it if you’re jealous of this man’s sleek handiwork.
