Sarah Jane Donohue was five days old when she was violently shaken by her baby nurse. This resulted in two broken collarbones, four broken ribs, and a brain injury with loss of over 60% of her rear cortex.
When her father, Patrick Donohue, couldn’t find a school in New York City for children with her type of injuries, he set out to create his own school. He aimed to establish an institution providing top-notch education for children with brain injuries.
