These Two Incredibly Detailed Drawings Have Way More Than Meets The Eye

Davit Yukhanyan has been drawing for as long as he can remember. Today, he works as an architect in Yerevan, Armenia, but still makes sure he finds time to create illustrative art as well. Recently, he created two drawings. Two might not seem like a lot, but when you consider their level of detail, it becomes a different story entirely. Here are the two drawings in their entirety:

Each drawing, both of which measure 70 by 100 centimeters, is actually a composite of hundreds of tiny drawings that are arranged carefully to make up a whole. Besides the main subjects, the drawings feature countless animal-human hybrids, funny faces, weird machines and more. They make up the form, the background and the shading, and provide hours of entertainment. Yukhanyan creates his work entirely by hand–no digital manipulation here–using technical pen on paper.

The images are dizzying in their complexity, and also very funny thanks to the characters Yukhanynan has created to populate his drawings. The detail is meticulous, and ranges from larger, more open line drawings in the lighter areas to denser, darker collections of figures and faces in the shadowed areas. You can spend hours looking at the drawings and probably still find something new in each corner.
