These Clever Pieces Of Art Were Created Using Something Totally Unexpected

Elisa Roche was bored at work one day, so she started doodling. That’s not exactly a new phenomenon, but she was doodling on a banana, which might be less common. If you’ve ever drawn on a banana peel with a ballpoint pen, though, you’ll know how wonderful the experience is. The doodle impressed her coworkers, who encouraged her to document the ephemeral piece of art. So Roche snapped a picture, and that picture kicked off Fun With Fruit, an Instagram account that became an overnight hit.

It became such a hit that even Vogue featured her work. Needless to say, Roche was thrilled, but she also saw the humor in how she got to be featured in the world-renowned magazine. “I guess it is every girl’s dream to get into Vogue. It was hilarious to do it how I did though,” she said in an interview with the Mirror.

Her affinity for her unusual medium might come from her background as a chef. As far as subject matter is concerned, she’s inspired by almost anything, from movies to commercials to current events–whatever strikes her fancy at the moment.

Her Instagram is still new, but Roche doesn’t show any signs of stopping. If you’d like to keep up with her banana antics, we suggest following her. Right now, it’s all bananas, but Roche has expressed interest into branching out into other fruits as well.

“There was always that artist inside of me, and I guess it has finally come out, just in a bit of an odd fashion,” Roche says. So if you’ve always had an artistic side but don’t know how to make it manifest, remember that some really fun, great art can come out of the strangest places!
