These Bizarre Models Are What Dentists Use To Practice Their Skills

Dentistry is a noble profession, and one that requires immense skill. The thing is, that skill doesn’t come easily. It takes years and years of painstaking education and practical experience to become an expert dentist. So, rather than letting waves of untrained dentists practice on the mouths of actual humans, they first must practice on dental models.

If you’ve never seen one of these models, you’ll know that they’re almost scarier than an actual trip to the dentist. I think it has something to do with the juxtaposition of the very obviously fake or non-human faces, with super realistic human teeth. They sort of look like demon robots.

1. Ahh that’s so creepy.

2. Just imagine if frogs actually had human teeth…nope!

3. “Say Ahh.”

4. A dental lab of terror.

5. This dental model is a bit more vintage than the others, but no less freaky.

6. I think it’s trying to smile at me…

7. Maybe they’re twins?

8. I can’t even.

9. The fact that the facial features on this one are more realistic just makes it that much creepier.

10. What are you smiling at?

11. Luckily most fish aren’t this terrifying.

12. “Open wide.”

13. This one features a translucent skull in case you forget that you’re working on a mega creepy, mouth dummy.

14. Why did they decide to add eyeballs to this one?

15. Meet the killer elephant.

I suddenly have a whole new found respect for dentists. They must have nerves of steel to make it through three years of dental school starring at these things.
