One Man Incredibly Filmed Himself Getting Struck By Lightning

Thankfully, getting stuck by lightning is something most of us will never experience. Then again, most of us aren’t storm chaser Scott Sheppard. Sheppard tracked a storm earlier this year near Fairburn, South Dakota. As he approached the center of the storm, he stepped out of his car to get a better look. That’s when something quite unexpected happened.

Sheppard works for Severe Studios as a storm chaser. He was tracking a weather system through South Dakota. He stepped out of his car to have a better look at the developing storm, when he was suddenly struck by lightning.

Lucky for us, Sheppard was carrying his video camera at the time of the strike. We don’t see the actual lightning bolt, but we see the smokey aftermath.

The bolt traveled down Sheppard’s arm, only to then jump to the ground. This caused some damage to the roadway.

This is the hole where the lightning struck the pavement.

The lightning strike was so powerful that it actually damaged Sheppard’s car and another nearby car. Both vehicles had to be towed away from the scene.

While it looks and sounds like a painful experience, Sheppard says that he was completely fine after the lightning strike. He didn’t even need to go to the hospital. What a lucky guy.
