The world famous blue pond in Japan receives tourists from around the world. Though you’ve likely never been here, we’re betting you’ve seen it before…and just can’t figure out where.

It’s the Blue Pond background from the Apple’s OSX!
The pond is actually a reservoir created by a dam built to protect from mudflows that might occur from the active volcano Mt. Tokachi. It contains high amounts of aluminum hydroxide to reflect blue light. Although the color of the water changes depending on time of day and weather, its beauty certainly lives up to its image.
Now I know what I’m looking at every morning when I go to check my email. So cool!
