Believe it or not, the castles you are about to see were totally abandoned. You might be thinking to yourself, how could anyone want to leave a castle? It makes a lot of sense if you consider what goes into residing in one. Sure, castle living seems great, but have you ever thought about how hard it would be to clean one of those things? It’s hard enough to keep a modest house presentable. Plus, if the property taxes don’t get you, the heating bill will.
Castello di Sammezzano – Tuscany, Italy
Built in 1605 and redesigned in the mid-to-late 1800s, this castle functioned as a hotel in the 1990s.
Now it’s totally abandoned.
Save for visitors who travel from all over to see its beautiful interior.
It truly is breathtaking.
