He Found This Wood At A Salvage Yard And Transformed It Into Something So Useful

Not everyone has the luxury of endless cabinet space in their kitchen or storage space around the house. If you’re looking for a nifty way to gain some extra room without going the distance to install pricey cabinets, you’ll want to check this awesome DIY out.

By taking some pieces of wood he found at a salvage yard, this guy made beautiful shelving for his kitchen. See how he did it below.

Here’s the wood he found for the shelves.

He had to measure and mark the section of the board which would be cut to allow the shelves to be flush with the wall. Measure twice cut once.

The next step was to carefully cut the shelves using a table saw.

Once the edges of the shelves were cut, he created holes in the wood for where the steel rods wood be placed.

Now for the fun part: staining and finishing the shelves. Clearly, they turned out pretty incredibly.

These are the six steel rods which would be used to hold the shelves in place. They had to be pretty sturdy; not only would they carry the wooden shelves, they’d also hold whatever would be stored on top.

Here’s the the finished product!

And here they are serving their useful yet beautiful purpose.
