Nobody really owns bearskin rugs these days, no matter how enticing the thought of lounging on one in front of the fireplace might be. They’re a little gaudy, and cruel to the poor bears used as decor.
But this whimsical spin on the old style is too cute and cruelty free. A Reddit user uploaded the step by step instructions on creating your own adorable teddy bear rug.
She began by drawing out the pattern on paper over the fabric.
Then came the ears.
And the eyes! She recommends these sturdier ones to withhold through multiple washings.
Install the nose.
Voila! Face!
She reinforced the edges with thread, but they’re still pretty floppy. Be sure to get strong felt.
Next, she cut out four sets of claws from felt.
She then added stuffing to the head and created a border with thread to keep it from falling out.
And voila! Baby approved and super adorable.
All of her cute creations are super cuddly and simple to make.

They can be used as rugs, blankets, or capes for the adventurous child (or child-at-heart) in your lives. Caution: if given as a gift for especially young children, be sure to reenforce the eyes and nose with embroidering to avoid choking hazards.
