An Elderly Man Thought He Could Never Have Kids, Then He Found His Long-Lost Son

Tony Trapani wanted to have children his whole life, but at 81-years-old, he figured it was a goal he’d never reach. When he found out he had a son all along, he broke down in tears of joy.

After Trapani’s wife passed away, he began cleaning out her file cabinets. In one of the drawers, he found a letter addressed to him from 1959. The letter revealed that he had a son from a past relationship. The mother of Trapani’s son wrote, “I have a little boy, he is five years old now…he was born November 13th, 1953.” That little boy grew up to be now 61-year-old Samuel Childress. Childress knew his mother had sent the letter, but always assumed Trapani wasn’t interested in meeting him.

“Just to know him now is so important to me,” Childress said. In an interview with Fox 17 News in Michigan, Trapani couldn’t contain his happiness. As Childress discussed the new relationship with his father, his dad wiped away tears.

Trapani isn’t sure why his wife never told him about his son, but the father and son aren’t letting lost time disappoint them.
