Every living thing deserves a fair shot at a happy, healthy life, which is why, when we come across animals that haven’t been given one, it’s hard to see. What slightly makes up for the bad people in the world are the incredibly kind ones that step in and try to make wrong right. The folks over at Second Chance Rescue in New York City are some of those people. They rescue animals in need from bad situations, doing their best to correct mental and physical conditions.
Recently, Landis arrived at their rescue and started his path to a new, better life.
Meet Landis. The pit bull mix was rescued from a Georgia shelter.
In addition to being incredibly emaciated, all four of Landis’ tendons in his legs are ruptured. His growth is stunted and his spine is curved, most likely a symptom of being kept in a small space.
But, despite having a rough past, he’s still so lovable and snuggly.
Apparently, his fur feels like velvet.
That. Face!
He’s so curious!

Since arriving in New York, Landis was taken to an orthopedic surgeon to see what they could do to help him recover and get well. It’s clear he’s already on his way to become a well-adjusted pup. But the good news doesn’t stop there, Second Chance Rescue has already received adoption requests for Landis from around the country. It’s no wonder that everyone has fallen in love with him.
If you want to help Landis, and dogs like him, donate to Second Chance Rescue. And if you’re considering adding another furry member to your family this year, think about getting a rescue. Dogs, just like humans, need love and affection, no matter their color or history.
