A Giant Cat Just Appeared On Google Maps, And No One Know How It Got There.

There always seems to be something weird happening with Google Maps, but this one might just take the cake. Earlier this month in Hobson Bay, New Zealand (near the city of Auckland), a cat-shaped road appeared on Google Maps. It gets weirder, but first take a look.

There it is. It looks like a pretty long road, actually. Too bad it doesn’t exist.

Even though the cat-shaped path appears on the map, it does not exist in the real world. While it is possible for users to edit parts of Google Maps, these changes need to be reviewed by Google before they’re included. Google says it never approved such changes.

As you might imagine, Google is taking this guerrilla cat invasion quite seriously. They released this statement about the whole thing:

“We were aware that cats were trying to take over YouTube, but we didn’t [realize] it was extending to Google Maps. We’re looking into this.”

If you check the map now, the cat is gone…

So I guess it’s a cat conspiracy.

Is it a conspiracy, or maybe some sort of big publicity stunt? Who knows, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear about a few unsuspecting tourists looking for this “cat road,” only to get lost in the woods trying to find it.
