McDonald’s is notorious for having some of the craziest ingredients in their foods. People have complained about it for years, but the fast food giant keeps on trucking along, retaining their crown as fast food king across the globe (sorry Burger King). But what they’ve added to their dessert menu is a bit curious, weird, if not disgusting. Their pies have some peculiar fillings now that might be delicious, but will make you think twice about that you’re putting in your mouth.
1. Cheese Pies
share
In Mexico, Panama, and Costa Rica, a visit to a McDonald’s will present you with the opportunity to pick up a cheese pie. The pay de queso fills a pastry crust with a rich mixture of sweet, creamy cheese.
2. Taro Pies

Sold in Asian markets (it also got a test run in Hawaii) the crust is filled with a concoction similar to chunky mashed potatoes, only it’s filled with the sweet and purple tuber familiar to the Pacific Islands, Taro.
3. Sweet Potato Pies
share
Only available in Asian markets, the sweet potato pie fills up a flaky crust with mashed sweet potato. Launched in 2010 in Hong Kong, we’re surprised it also hasn’t turned up in Southern markets in the U.S.
4. Smores Pies

The s’mores pie was released in the summer of 2012, and is the only one on our list that can actually be found inside the borders of the United States, as well as Canada. It’s a side-by-side pairing of marshmallow and chocolate filling, wrapped up in a graham cracker crust.
5. Bacon And Potato Pies

One of the more interesting McDonald’s menu items is the potato-bacon pie, only available in Asian markets, and Japan in particular. This decidedly savory offering suspends chunks of bacon inside a filling of mashed potatoes, encased in a deep-fried shell.
Looks like dessert has been kicked up a notch. Go get ’em McDonald’s! You have over a billion sold for a reason.
