Being incarcerated is a very serious thing. What many people don’t realize, though, is that sometimes being in jail can be…enjoyable. In other countries, the jails and prisons make an inordinate amount of money from donors. They end up spending their money on things that are downright bizarre.
Let’s just say doing “hard time” seems pretty soft in some of these places.

Adorable old women come and torture the inmates by teaching them how to knit pretty hats and things.

This “open” prison has no cells or locked doors. Inmates live together in houses and leisurely do construction and gardening work in a riverside town that looks like The Shire from Lord of The Rings.

Being a free individual would obviously be better than living in these prisons…but hey, you get to wear the same outfit as all of your friends every day! It’s like summer camp but for criminals.
