We only have a limited number of days ahead of us. They might be measured by the thousands, or the few, but they’re always there reminding us to make the most of the life we’re given.
Which begs the question: what have you done lately to make your life amazing? Like Lynzee Ford, a typical 17-year-old high schooler, your life can change in an instant.
After Ford learned she was suffering from leukemia and only had 4 months to live, her family set out to help her live the most normal teenage life she could.

They took her to tons of “normal” activities, including the Texas State Fair. They also tried to set up an early prom, and other things we often take for granted.

Her school showed tremendous support and even held an early graduation to ensure she accomplished one of life’s goals. Principal Gregg Brown was the keynote speaker and said of the teen, “Lynzee is a very special young lady here at Kilgore High School and is loved by us all, and she wanted to graduate from here, and we wanted to make sure that happened.”

As Lynzee’s teacher and assistant softball coach, Kathy Mehringer, said during her graduation: “That day you became the teacher and I became the student, and you showed me what it’s like to have family and to have dreams. And this is your day, this is an awesome day: your graduation day. I love you.”

Sadly, Ford passed away following her heroic fight, just days after her graduation. She wasn’t able to make it to the impromptu prom. Following her passing, friends and family donated funds to provide for her medical bills, and help the family from the already saddening burden.
