If you are a comic book fan, you may notice something suspicious about certain characters. Between publishers DC and Marvel, there are some very blatant ripoffs in terms of superheroes that are just too similar. Artist Darren Rawlings got to the bottom of these superhero copies and drew the most blatantly similar characters together, showcasing their suspicious similarities.
Ant-Man and Atom
share
These two have the power to shrink down to microscopic sizes and grow back to normal sizes.
Black Lightning and Electro
share
These two masters of lightning only differ in terms of race.
Hawkman and Angel
share
Winged comic book characters are pretty uncommon, which makes this similarity even more crazy.
Green Lantern and Quasar
share
These two wear special accessories to give them powers. Green Lantern has a ring, and Quasar uses wristbands.
Dr. Fate and Dr. Strange
share
Dr. Fate and Dr. Strange utilize magic as their superpowers, which helps them defeat foes.
Mr. Fantastic, Elongated Man, and Plastic Man
share
All three of these guys have super stretchy body parts which can help them elongate or morph their shapes into many things.
Captain Canuck And Guardian
share
These two are super-powered Canadians with super strength and agility. You know, normal super hero stuff, except they are from Canada.
Clayface and Sandman
share
Clayface and Sandman are no doubt quite similar. Both use the powers of the earth to bend their shape and make weapons out of their bodies.
Cheetah and Tigra
share
This is about as shameless and similar as you can get. Not only do they look almost identical, but their powers are cat-like, and include enhanced senses, speed, and strength.
Wasp and Bumblebee
share
These two are of different ethnic backgrounds, but they both have the ability to shrink and fly.
Banshee and Silver Banshee
share
They didn’t even try to really change the name here. At least one is a man and one is a woman, but they both have the power of incredibly dangerous sonic screams.
Martian Manhunter and Vision
share
These two not only look similar, but their powers are nearly identical. They both boast superhuman strength, durability, flight, regeneration, self-sustenance, shape-shifting, intangibility, invisibility, telepathy, telekinesis, extrasensory input, and optic blasts.
Deadpool and Deathstroke
share
These two master assassins actually have a funny backstory. Deadpool is such a shameless ripoff of Deathstroke that the creator, as a joke, named Deadpool Wade Wilson because Deathstroke’s name is Slade Wilson.
Thor and Captain Marvel
share
These two use the power of the gods. Thor is the Norse god of thunder, and Captain Marvel uses the power of several Greek gods (mainly the thunder of Zeus).
Captain America and Commander Steel
share
These two are both veterans of WWII. Both underwent experiments that gave them their superpowers, and both have red, white, and blue uniforms. They both have superhuman strength, speed, and agility. The both stand for doing the right thing and the American way.
Swamp Thing and Man-Thing
share
Does this one even need an explanation? Look at them.
Green Arrow and Hawkeye
share
These two are so similar that it makes you wonder how a lawsuit wasn’t filed. Both are skilled archers and masters of targeting.
Ultron and Brainiac
share
These two humanoid robots are supremely intelligent, can repair themselves, can replicate themselves, and are hell bent on destruction.
Gladiator, Superman, and Hyperion
share
Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. This quote doesn’t just apply to Superman, but Gladiator and Hyperion as well.
Cat Woman and Black Cat
share
These two feline-inspired superheroes (or supervillains depending on the story) are master thieves. They use their sneaky, cat-like abilities to accomplish their thievery.
Aquaman and Namor
share
Armed with tridents, Aquaman and Namor are both lords of the sea, with the ability to swim fast and breathe underwater.
Moon Knight and Dark Knight
share
A little costume variety is the only thing that really separates these two heroes. They both are masters of various forms of combat and utilize gadgets to aid their quests.
Ghost Rider and Atomic Skull
share
These two simply just look alike, as their powers are quite different. Atomic Skull has the power to use atomic blasts and is a super intelligent scientist. Ghost Rider simply has superhuman strength and is perceived as indestructible.
Quicksilver and The Flash
share
Quicksilver and The Flash are both super fast beyond all human comprehension. That is all.
Darkseid and Thanos
share
Darkseid and Thanos are both powerful demi-gods in their respective comic book universes. They are both determined to destroy the world.
Boomerang and Captain Boomerang
share
Boomerang and Captain Boomerang use…guess what? Boomerangs. They are super accurate with them. There is a reason why you probably haven’t heard of them.
Dr. Polaris and Magneto
share
Masters of magnetism, Dr. Polaris and Magento use their powers for evil, but Magneto is definitely the more popular of the two.
The Hulk and Grundy
share
The Hulk and Grundy like to smash. That is all. Look at them. What do you think they do? They smash stuff.
It’s hard to think how these identical superheroes even made it to the pages of some of the most popular comic book series of all time. Their crazy similarities probably led to some rough name calling aimed at the other company. But hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I suppose.
