A great white shark is nothing to mess around with. They’re pretty much the deadliest aquatic hunters in the world. While humans aren’t the preferred prey of great whites, these creatures are responsible for the majority of shark attacks on humans.
When you see one of these oceanic killing machines swimming towards you, the best advice is to run in the opposite direction as fast as you can. Unless, of course, you’re this guy.
This man was fishing off the coast of South Africa in 2009. Suddenly, a great white shark approached his boat. Little did the shark know that this guy was not afraid of him.
In fact, the man was so unfazed by the shark’s presence that he leaned over the side of his boat to pet its head and tease it.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything more nerve-racking than this in my life.
Here’s the full video of this terrifying shark-petting encounter.

I don’t even want to think about how easily this could have turned deadly. That shark really doesn’t like being messed with. Luckily, the man and his crew got away safely, and now they have one heck of a story to tell.
