25 Days Of Creepy Christmas, Day 3: The Tragic Grapevine Santa Murders

Do you ever feel a little creeped out when you run into a Santa Claus at the mall? Or maybe one on the street corner that’s ringing a bell? What if a man dressed as Santa actually appeared in your home on Christmas, the way “Santa” is supposed to?

In 2011, Aziz Yazdanpanah was was dressed like Santa Clause when entered the Grapevine, Texas, home of his estranged wife. He had been separated from her for six whole years…and the relationship wasn’t good. Once inside the house, he murdered six of his relatives, including the couple’s teenage children. The incident is now known as the Grapevine Santa Shootings.

Yazdanpanhwas had been unemployed for almost a decade. He recently separated from his wife Nasrin Rahmaty. It was Nasrin’s brother who had been supporting the family for many years.

Christmas Day, 2011.

It seemed like a normal Christmas day. The family gathered at Nasrin’s house and everyone was all smiles. Even Yazdanpanhwas arrived to the party, which while probably a little awkward, seemed harmless. A text sent by one of Nasrin’s nieces that morning said, “Soo we’re here. We just got here and my uncle is here too. Dressed as Santa. Awesome.”

Then, things took a turn for the worse. Nasrin’s niece texted, “Now, he wants to be all fatherly and win father of the year.” 15 minutes later, Yazdanpanah shot six of his relatives before shooting himself. During the act, someone called 911, screaming “Help, help! I am shooting people!” Officials believe that Yazdanpanah made the call himself.

Grapevine is known to the state as “The Christmas Capitol of Texas.” Unfortunately, that year, Christmas wasn’t a happy time for everyone there.
