Tis’ the season of the advent calendar!
For some of those who celebrate Christmas, the advent calendar is a familiar object. It is meant to help a family count down the days until Christmas, and to remind them to be aware of what Christmas signifies.
Most advent calendars have little panels for each day that open up to reveal some kind of message or sometimes a piece of candy. But when a helpful message or a piece of candy won’t suffice, what’s the next best thing? Beer!
This DIY advent calendar celebrates the coming of Christmas a little differently than most, but it’s sure to make you “jolly.”
You start out with what most people have around the holiday season – some cardboard tubes used for wrapping paper. Make sure that the tubes are the right fit for a beer can (very important).
Next, measure the can and cut the cardboard tubes into 25 pieces of the same length. Use some glue to attach these pieces to each other. Place them somewhere they won’t be disturbed and let them dry.
Once the glue has dried and you’ve closed off one side with more cardboard, it’s time to pick your beers. I would recommended gathering a selection like the one below with a good variety of beers. It’s just a suggestion, celebrate the season anyway you want.
Use Photoshop to create a calendar that will fit the specifications of your beer container. The easiest way to make your beer accessible is to make small incisions in the paper that can be torn open.
This is an advent calendar that will ensure a happy holiday season. Pro-tip: Keep it somewhere cool. Nothing can ruin holiday fun like warm beer.

And remember, this is a beer calendar – you can only drink one day at a time.
