A Houston Texans Star Football Player Is Taking Over For Santa This Year

Football players have been getting nothing but negative attention in the media lately. The cases of domestic and child abuse are giving NFL players a bad reputation and have left many fans feeling salty about the league, the commissioner, and the players. Just in case you forgot, there are also a ton of upstanding, great, charitable players in the NFL as well and they should not be forgotten and their positive works in the community should not be overlooked.

Recently, star Houston Texans Wide Receiver, Andre Johnson hosted his 7th annual Shopping Spree at Toys R Us for at-risk children from child protective services in the Houston area.

Johnson, who wears #80 on his jersey, gives the kids 80 seconds to run through the store and fill a shopping cart. In reality, the kids get even more than what they can grab in those 80 seconds as Johnson also gives each child a gaming system and games as well as gifts to give to their siblings.

The final bill totaled $16,266.26. It was so high that Johnson’s credit card company flagged the first register’s bill of more than $5,000 as suspicious.

The recipients of these very generous gifts are extremely thankful to Mr. Johnson who has been doing this charity drive for years and plans to continue it in the future.

Just a friendly reminder that majority of the players in the NFL and majority of the people in the world in general are generous, kind people who will help others if they have the means to.
