Kitsault is a town in British Columbia, Canada, that was completely abandoned many years ago. It was originally a mining town built in 1979 by the Phelps Dodge mining company. Unfortunately, the mine dried up over a year after the town was built.
Workers and their families were told to leave, often by force. Phelps Dodge ended up repurchasing all of the homes. Selling everything in the town wouldn’t have evened out its cost, so Kitsault was promptly abandoned. It remains today, frozen in time.
Seems welcoming enough.
Ominous sign.
This tractor seems to have stopped mid-job.
No late fees at this library.
They even left the books on the shelves.
Electricity still runs in some of the buildings, making them even spookier.
Almost looks like a modern medieval castle.
It’s surprising that most of the abandoned town remains untouched by vandalism.
Even the inside of the houses remain untouched.
The kids who last played here probably now have children of their own.
Cottages for the miners.
Lonely post office boxes.
Vintage exercise equipment. I still can’t get over how the electricity still works in the town.
It’s weird seeing such old yet perfectly preserved technology.
There are some beautifully designed rooms here. It’s a shame they went to waste.
Kitsault is quite scenic. I imagine it was a lovely place to live.

I’ve always wanted to visit an abandoned town. These photos make you wonder if this is what all towns will look like when humans are no longer on Earth.
