This Fantastic Gingerbread Creation Puts Other Cakes To Shame

If you ever made a gingerbread house, you know how long it takes and the patience required to complete it. You need soft and steady hands so you don’t knock the whole thing over. If you’ve taken the time to bake such an intricate creation, then you will understand how truly amazing this 3D artist’s work really is.

Caroline Eriksson decided to make an impressive present for fans of The Hobbit. She created this amazing gingerbread sculpture of legendary Smaug – a fictional fearless and greedy dragon from J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel. The gingerbread masterpiece took her many hours to bake and construct.

In order for Caroline to get the thing to stick together and not collapse under the weight, she needed to add loads of syrup and flour to the dough.

Overall, she says it took over two weeks of work in order to complete the whole project.

Smaug is not the first Eriksson’s gingerbread sculpture. Last year, she won the first prize in the 2013 Mill Gingerbread Competition in Norway with her wonderful Optimus Prime from Transformers.

She plans on eating it when it falls apart on its own. After two weeks of work on the project, who could really blame her?

This is truly a delicious masterpiece. It’s a shame that one day it will be in someone’s stomach. It almost seems like a waste of art. But if you make something delicious, it must be eaten!
