This McDonald’s Burger Was Left Out For 2 Years…And Nothing Changed

A chiropractor office in Waterford, Michigan, held an experiment to make their patients think twice about what they eat. The office kept a McDonald’s cheeseburger and a Taco Bell chicken taco out for the past two years on a counter. What happened to these food items may surprise you.

Yup! Both look completely unchanged. Meat, bread, and cheese remain almost perfectly in tact. The chiropractors say not even ants will touch them.

Food experts say the reason the Burger is so well preserved is that it is covered in a substance called “calcium probinate.” It’s technically non-toxic, unless you eat it every day of your life.

Similarly, Buzzfeed did an experiment comparing the decay over time of several fast food chain burgers. In the experiment, McDonald’s preservation skills creepily outdid the competition.

Even if experts say that the burger is non-toxic, I don’t if their analysis makes me feel any better about eating that stuff. Is it even food at this point?
