This 7-Year-Old Survived A Plane Crash And Did Something Incredible

Seven-year-old Sailor Gutzler did not expect to be tested by an awful experience. She flew with her family from Tallahassee, Florida, to Mount Vernon, Illinois, when her plane experienced engine trouble over the woods of Kentucky. As the plane lost altitude, Sailor had to think and act fast.

Sailor was traveling with her father, mother, and two small siblings. Their plane ultimately crashed in the woods of Kuttawa, Kentucky. Sadly, everyone on board passed away, except for Sailor.

Sailor was left alone in the middle of the woods with a broken wrist, no shoes, and several cuts. She could have either waited and hoped for help to come, or left to find it. With incredible courage, she took off, walking over a mile through dense brush and freezing temperatures to the nearest home of 71-year-old Larry Wilkins.

She made it there in the thick of night by lighting a stick on one of the flaming wings and using survival skills taught to her by her family.

“I come to the door and there’s a little girl, 7 years old, bloody nose, bloody arms, bloody legs, one sock, no shoes, crying,” said Mr. Wilkins. “She told me that her mom and dad were dead, and she had been in a plane crash and the plane was upside down.”

As officers on the scene explained, “She literally fell out of the sky into a dark hole and didn’t have anybody but her own will to live and get help for her family. Absolutely amazing.” We agree. Her story of survival is truly amazing, and we can only believe that her family would be proud.
