Having a garage can be extremely helpful. However, garages are often wasted on sheltering everything you’ve accumulated over the years.
These crafty people weren’t going to let this happen. They saw all of the extra space they had and turned it into one of the coolest guest houses I’ve ever seen. You can hardly tell it was built to keep a car or old bag of golf clubs from getting rained on.
The garage before any of the conversion went down.
Borrrrrrr…
…ingggggg!
Check out the layout for the new guest house. Seems pretty ambitious.
The conversion begins.
How are they going to make that look like a comfortable place to stay over?
This foam wall should help keep the moisture out.
The new siding should help, too.
Looking fresh.
You’ve got to love that new door.
Now to take one big space and turn it into several smaller spaces.
So far, so good.
Not all of the conversion will be taking place in/on the garage. The water line will have to be upgraded, too.
That’s an even bigger undertaking than I thought.
With drywall and insulation up, it’s time to put on the trimming.
What lovely wainscoting.
I can’t get over how great the vintage tile looks. No oil-stained cement in sight.
The kitchen sink.
The kitchen sink freshly painted.
And of course, the Internet connection. Wi-Fi is a must!
This place looks amazing already.
The bathroom looks incredible.
Wow!
Plenty of storage space, too.
Was this really a garage? It looks like it’s always been a house.
It doesn’t get any better than this.

The end result looks nicer than my apartment. Now I want to see what I can toss out in order to make better use of my space. I just hope my landlord doesn’t mind when I start taking down a few walls here and there.
